Sequel to Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs in the works

Two writers have recently been hired to write a sequel to Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. Though the book the film was based on had a sequel, the film will supposedly be based on an original idea, which kind of makes sense, considering that the film itself was closer to an original idea than it was to the book. Although I didn't think the film needed a sequel when I first saw it, I would be willing to see the outcome of this, as the first film still stands as one of my all-time favorite animated films. (Better than Up in my eyes.) However, I'm keeping my standards low, as this almost seems like a cash-in, as it's pretty standard for studios to cash in on animated franchises. They are, after all, one of the most successful of film genres. Plus, keeping my standards low is how I fell in love with the first film.
